What Mentorship Is NOT

  • โŒ It's not about fixing problems โ€” it's about walking alongside
  • โŒ It's not about having all the answers โ€” it's okay to say "I don't know"
  • โŒ It's not about perfection โ€” mentors are on a journey too
  • โŒ It's not counseling or therapy โ€” if serious issues arise, involve leadership
  • โŒ It's not judgment โ€” it's a safe space to be real
  • โŒ It's not one-directional โ€” mentees teach mentors too

When to Escalate

As a mentor, if your mentee discloses any of the following, contact the planning team immediately:

  • โ€ข Abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)
  • โ€ข Severe mental health crises or suicidal ideation
  • โ€ข Substance abuse or addiction concerns
  • โ€ข Criminal activity
  • โ€ข Any situation you feel unequipped to handle

You are not alone. The church leadership team is here to support you.
