What Mentorship Is NOT
- โ It's not about fixing problems โ it's about walking alongside
- โ It's not about having all the answers โ it's okay to say "I don't know"
- โ It's not about perfection โ mentors are on a journey too
- โ It's not counseling or therapy โ if serious issues arise, involve leadership
- โ It's not judgment โ it's a safe space to be real
- โ It's not one-directional โ mentees teach mentors too
When to Escalate
As a mentor, if your mentee discloses any of the following, contact the planning team immediately:
- โข Abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)
- โข Severe mental health crises or suicidal ideation
- โข Substance abuse or addiction concerns
- โข Criminal activity
- โข Any situation you feel unequipped to handle
You are not alone. The church leadership team is here to support you.
